General Dance That Info | Question and Answer | Weekly Dances
For some, dancing is a big part of the wedding reception. However, most people are not blessed with innate dancing skills and therefore could benefit from professional dance instruction. Whether the goal is simply to feel comfortable and confident on the dance floor or to create a one-of-a-kind first dance to impress, we can help. Dance That has on staff, professional dance instructors skilled in Latin, Swing, Ballroom, and various other popular styles. The lessons are affordable and the instructors are patient and very people oriented.
Dance That has been providing dance instruction for brides and grooms-to-be
for the last 8 years. Each lesson is taught with 2 instructors so
you can see both the lead and follow. We can teach any style. The
advantage of taking private lessons is that you will be able to make
a lot more progress in a shorter amount of time. If you are not wanting
a full choreography for your dance we can get you comfortable on the
dance floor in 1 – 4 lessons. You can even bring your parents to work
on a father/daughter and/or mother/son dance as well. We can also
help you choreograph the perfect flash mob! Since we are full time instructors,
privates and semi-privates can be scheduled around your schedule.
Our dance lessons are a fantastic investment in the overall success of your wedding reception!
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider
like you?
A. If you are planning on hiring our services for a full choreography
make sure that you allot time to practice outside of class so that
you can get the most out of your money spent.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade?
Any inside secrets to share?
A. There are lots of dance teachers in Portland but not many specialize
in wedding dancing like we do. Since we are DJ’s and musicians who
perform at weddings every weekend we are able to assist with mixing
your music and also help with song choices that fit your vision. We
can create flash mobs, help with the parents dances, and be available
to teach at your event. We also offer a discount on pricing on lessons
to all of our clients who hire DJ services or live music through our
company.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service
professional?
A. How many instructors will be at each lesson? Most only offer one
we always offer two. That way you can see both the lead and follow;
you can record us dancing so you can take your lesson home; and we
also will dance with you to give you immediate feedback. You can certainly
learn by watching but if you are dancing with the instructors you
will be able to learn so much faster.
How many lessons will I need to learn my first dance? Most of our clients can learn a full choreography in about 10 lessons. These are the ones who are practicing outside of class.
Do we need any experience to take the lessons? Not at all; we can teach anyone to dance.
Can you help mix my music if needed? Yes
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through
before seeking you out?
A. It’s always helpful if you already know what song(s) you want to
use. It’s not required but we can certainly help you select music
if you are not sure what you want to dance too. If you are planning
on performing a full choreography make sure you allow time to properly
prepare. It really depends on your skill level and how quickly you
learn, how much you practice, etc… It’s nice if you have a minimum
of 3 months to practice so you can have an opportunity to really learn
it and even perform it once or twice before the event.
If you are not planning on a full choreography you can expect to feel comfortable on the dance floor in 1-4 lessons.
